At Sheddin, we always say, “Good music is good music, regardless of genre.” Last night, we got to connect with another music organization that's creating space with that exact sentiment at its core.

New on the scene, multimedia music platform and creative coalition Flow Theory hosted its monthly artist showcase at Vinyl in Center City Philadelphia, bringing together a lineup of independent artists for a genre-less night of music. The newly formed collective gives artists a space to share their talents with audiences of all musical tastes, helping them reach new fans, build connections, and create opportunities.

Based in Philadelphia, Flow Theory was co-founded by Universal Music Group veteran Olivier Kasongo and Adam Chodes. Their vision? To build a multimedia platform that gives Philadelphia musicians access to the infrastructure and high-fidelity media production of a major entertainment market without having to pack up and move to cities like New York or Los Angeles to find success.

We got to chat briefly with Olivier at the show about how much Philly needs more curators, platforms, and opportunities like this so creatives don't always feel the need to leave the city to make things happen. And let's just say, he's all in on Philly, which is exactly the kind of energy we love to see and need more of.

From rappers turned crooners to dream pop and R&B, Flow Theory featured a mix of emerging artists carving out their own lanes, and we were excited to be in the room to experience it all.

If you know anything about Sheddin, you know we've always believed that if you can make it in Philly, you can make it anywhere. So it was refreshing to see other people on that same wave, putting in the work to create opportunities and support the climb.

So, what's next for Flow Theory?

The sky's the limit. Right now, the collective is focused on experimenting with new events, building partnerships throughout the city, and growing its network of artists.

From one group of music lovers to another, we're front row and rooting for the home team.

Be sure to follow @flowtheory on social media and tap into their next networking event on November 12 at Stratus Lounge, located at 433 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, from 7–11 PM.

You can RSVP here: flowtheorymusic.com/rsvp.

We'll see y'all where the music is at.
